Active participation by the Renewable Energy Holding Company in a coordination meeting with the Ministry of Health to promote solar energy use in southern hospitals

As part of efforts to expand the use of sustainable energy solutions in the healthcare sector, a meeting was held on Tuesday morning, 1 October 2024, at the Ministry of Health headquarters, bringing together:

  • Eng. Mohamed Al-Za’louk, General Manager of the Renewable Energy Holding Company.
  • Eng. Abdulrahman Abu Jaafar Dou, Director of Projects at the Renewable Energy Authority.
  • Mr. Saadeldin Abdelwakeel, Deputy Minister of Health for General Hospitals.
  • Mr. Abdullah Jumaa Al-Nikkaa, Deputy Head of the Authority for the Development and Reconstruction of the South.
  • Eng. Sami Al-Sha’afi, Director of Projects at the Ministry of Health.

During the meeting, participants discussed areas of cooperation in the field of renewable energy, with a particular focus on the role of the Renewable Energy Holding Company in leading and implementing solar energy initiatives in the public sector, especially at healthcare facilities in the southern region.

This collaboration aligns with the state’s direction to support sustainable development and improve infrastructure in the south by providing alternative and safe energy sources that address environmental and economic challenges and meet citizens’ aspirations.

It was agreed to begin studying and implementing a project to install solar energy systems on the rooftops of hospitals and health centers, capitalizing on the high solar irradiation potential in southern Libya, to enhance energy efficiency and support the sustainability of healthcare services.

The participants emphasized the importance of maintaining joint coordination and holding future follow-up meetings, with the aim of expanding areas of cooperation and activating strategic projects that contribute to achieving sustainable development throughout Libya.
