Renewable Energy Holding Company participates in high-level workshop on mitigating foreign investment risks in Libya’s renewable energy sector

The Renewable Energy Holding Company took part in a high-level workshop held on Wednesday morning, 6 March 2024, in Tripoli under the title:
"Mitigating Foreign Investment Risks in Libya’s Renewable Energy Sector," with the participation of a distinguished group of local and international officials and experts specialized in the energy field.

The company was represented at the workshop by its Chairman of the Board, as part of the Holding Company’s strategic efforts to strengthen the investment climate for renewable energy projects and to activate public-private partnerships in Libya.

The workshop was attended by a representative of the Prime Minister’s Office, the Deputy Minister of Economy and Trade for Economic Affairs, the Chairman and Board Members of the Renewable Energy Authority, along with several directors from the Authority’s specialized departments.

Also participating were representatives of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), including the Deputy Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Libya, the Director of the Sustainable Energy and Climate Change Adaptation Project, the Renewable Energy Advisor, and a number of energy sector specialists.

The workshop agenda covered several key topics, most notably:

  • The National Strategy for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency
  • Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and their implementation mechanisms
  • Public-private partnership schemes
  • Sovereign guarantee frameworks to encourage foreign investment

The workshop also featured contributions from international experts who discussed global trends toward clean energy and the promising investment opportunities available in Libya.

At the conclusion of the workshop, it was agreed to prepare a proposal for organizing an international conference that would bring together relevant Libyan entities, investors, and financing partners, with the aim of developing an effective model for renewable energy projects within a comprehensive public-private partnership framework.
