In a move that reflects its steadfast commitment to leading the transition toward clean energy in Libya, the Renewable Energy Holding Company, alongside the Renewable Energy Authority of Libya (REAL)—represented by its Chairman of the Board and its General Manager, participated in a high-level coordination meeting held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Economy and Trade. The meeting was attended by the Minister, the Chairman of the Renewable Energy Authority, and a select group of specialists to discuss investment prospects in the renewable energy sector, as well as ways to empower it legislatively and financially.

In an announcement that underscores the seriousness of its strategic direction, the Holding Company, in coordination with the Authority, revealed the initiation of establishing a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to develop one of its most prominent flagship projects in electricity production from renewable sources. The project boasts a production capacity of 100 megawatts, with estimated investments reaching 500 million Libyan dinars—a qualitative step that reinforces its presence as a pivotal player in the national energy ecosystem and translates its vision to build a modern plant that adheres to the highest globally approved technical and environmental standards.

The company did not stop at presenting the project; it also proposed an ambitious financing vision based on issuing investment (Islamic bonds) for public subscription. This effort aims to engage citizens, the private sector, and the financial market as true partners in shaping Libya’s energy future, rather than mere recipients of its outcomes.

In coordination with the relevant authorities, the company emphasized the urgent need to resolve pending regulatory issues—foremost among them the feed-in tariff for purchasing energy from renewable sources—citing it as the key to finalizing feasibility studies and attracting international investors with greater confidence.

Through this project, the Renewable Energy Holding Company, side-by-side with the Renewable Energy Authority, reaffirms its relentless pursuit of investing in Libya’s immense and unique solar wealth, seeking to build an energy system that is more sustainable, more cost-effective, and more aligned with the aspirations of future generations.
